It’s 2022 – shouldn’t public companies be able to reach and understand all of their investors?
When we started Say four short years ago, public companies and their individual investors had no effective way to communicate with each other. While retail investors could represent a big portion of a company’s ownership, useful interaction was difficult and expensive. As a result, communication was largely limited to annual proxy voting and retail investors were written off as mostly irrelevant.
Fast forward to 2022. Millions of retail investors have started investing for the first time and rewritten the rules of the stock market. They are playing an unprecedented role in shaping the narrative around public companies, moving stock prices, and defining for a new generation what it means to be an owner.
Against this backdrop, we have been asking a simple question: Shouldn't these shareholders and the companies they own be able to interact in more and better ways?
Say is building the world's largest and most trusted ownership network so companies and their verified investors can do just that.
Today, we’re announcing an important milestone on this journey. Robinhood and its millions of customers are joining the Say network. That means that every company using Say to connect with its retail investors now has direct reach to all of its investors on Robinhood, along with the millions of other investors already exclusively in the Say network on other investment platforms.
New investors today are choosing to invest in the companies they know and love – in the places they shop, in the products they use, and in companies whose missions they support for the long term. We’ve seen over the past year just how much companies have to benefit from building deeper connections with their retail base. Say’s Shareholder Q&A has been giving companies the power to thoughtfully understand retail investor sentiment at scale, and Say’s regulatory communications products are making shareholder voting more efficient and accessible for companies and their investors.
Say’s ownership network is open to all, and it’s continuing to expand. We expect that one day, having Say will be an inseparable part of what it means to be an owner for every investor.
| Public companies who would like to join the Say network should reach out to learn more.
| All brokerages and investment platforms are invited to explore incorporating ownership experiences into their products with Say's APIs.
